Approach: Lean innovation
1. Idea generation and exploration
– Me and along my team mate, conducted idea generation workshops and channels to brainstorm and collect the ideas from inside and outside of the company
– The collected ideas are listed and analysed with desktop research and interview with domain experts. Each ideas are explored and evaluated using Lean Business Canvas
– The team collectively decided within which area should we innovate and why.
2. Problem and Solution
– Created hypothesis of customer problems and ran user interviews to gather more insight on the customer pains and requirements
– Set up a customer target to which we are trying to create this solution for. We derived three customer groups but agreed to target only 2 of these customer segments
– Always evaluated if we have found a problem that is worth solving and do our hypothesis agree with the customer needs.
– When it was clear that we had found a need of the customer, we started to build a MVP (minimum viable product) to test in small scale
– Built the MVP solution with no-code tool Wix and several third party app integration
3. Product and Market
– After creating MVP and testing with few customers we concluded that this business model works in this scale and this is a market feasible idea
– But since this idea relates more to owning shares of racehorses, we handed over to another partner company to launch and scale this idea
4. Scaling
– This innovation idea has been handed over to a partner company and they will be responsible to accelerate growth and setting up business model to unleash the potential of this idea.
Learnings
- Quicker and efficient method to idea generation and validation
- Talk to customer to validate hypothesis
- Harvest the strength of low/no-code tools to create MVPs
- Several tools such as typeform, mailchimp, airtable, Wix
